Description
First, I’d like to say a huge thanks to all those who take the time to comment on my photos! I really appreciate all the feedback and support. I’ve also been nominated for elite this month, so thanks very much everyone, and best of luck to all nominees! Now get out there and vote!Today (roughly an hour ago, as of the time of this post), my daughter and I were out for a walk in the fields behind our house (catching butterflies), when we spotted this large Orb-Weaving Spider.
We have one of these spiders right beside our front porch, but I've never posted any shots of it because I didn't think that blue vinyl siding made a very nice background.
Edit: What the heck! I've added the "blue vinyl siding" spider shot as an additional download, below.
This photo was captured with a Nikon D70 (1/200s @ f/16, EV -1, ISO 200, FL 70.0 mm), a tripod, and a set of Hoya diopters/close-up lenses.

Trevor, I humbly think you deserve elite status. Other people have very nice work, but after a long decision process my vote goes for you.
Cheers mate!

For the conditions you describe, I can tell you were running on the edge again with the EXIF. Brave shutter priority, and although not perfect, the DOF is good (still a bit distracting in my eye). The position of the spider here is not as ‘flat’ as in the other image, making the DOF issue difficult.
Altogether, very well done given the conditions (I don’t even try taking macro shots on windy days). If I add to this the ‘non-optimal macro equipment’ you are using – that’s a bloody impressive result.
