Description
I went out canoeing yesterday in the hopes of photographing some turtles (my favourite animal), but alas, I never saw any -- just some bullfrogs.Anyway, after cleaning up, I was walking around the yard when I saw this critter slither under a small rock. I flipped over the rock, it posed for a few shots, and then took off. I'm guessing, but I think it was probably about 14 - 16 inches (35 - 40 cm) in length.
This photo was captured with a Nikon D70 (1/20s @ f/16, ISO 200, FL 70.0 mm) and a set of Hoya diopters/close-up lenses.

Beautiful 'shade and light' shot. I wonder about the aperture/shutter speed you chose. On my screen looks like it could be slightly sharper, and I could use a little lower angle, but no complains really. Snakes are difficult, and this is a very good shot altogether.
